Facet: A plane, polished surface of a diamond.

Fascinator: Feathered headdress, hats, tiaras etc.

Father of the Bride: He usually is to pay for the wedding and escorts the bride down the aisle.

Favors: These are small gifts that may be given to guests at a wedding as a thank you for their attendance, and also to serve as a souvenir.

Fiancé: The groom or husband-to-be between the engagement and the wedding engaged to be married.

Fiancée: An engaged woman.

Fingerless Glove: Can be either long or short, and is good for when you're putting on those rings (you don't have to take off your glove or cut a slit in the finger).

Finger Tip: One of the most popular lengths of veil which extends to the fingertips.

Fish Bowl: A centerpiece made of a bowl to be used at the center of the table.

Fishtail train:  A train tight through the upper leg and flows out at the bottom in a mermaid style.

Fitted Bodice:  A bodice designed to hug the body.

Fitted point sleeve: A long sleeve that comes to a point at the top of the hand.

Fitted sleeve: A close fitting sleeve with no fullness or pouf at the top. There are various lengths: cap, short, above elbow, below elbow, ¾ length, and long.

Flared–Flounce Skirt: A looser skirt that flares out and has a ruffle at the hem.

Flared Skirt: A skirt which gradually gets larger from the waist to the floor.  Fitted at the waist, and then flares out into a tulip shape at the hem.

Flaw (diamond): An imperfection of a stone.

Floor-length Dress: The hemline of the dress falls 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches from the floor. A Floor length gown allows the tips of your shoes to show. It may or may not have a train.

Floor plans: See the layout of the room you are considering for your event.

Flounce:  A wide piece of fabric or lace, gathered and attached at the hem.

Flourishes: Decorative accents on the invitation.

Flower basket: A basket usually used by the wedding flower girls to hold flower petals to be tossed down the aisle before the bride makes her entrance.

Flower Girls or Flower Children: Usually small girls that come before the bride down the aisle scattering flower petals.

Flyaway: A layered veil that will barely reach to the shoulder.

Fondant: This is a sweet elastic icing made from sugar, syrup and gelatin that is used to be draped over the wedding cake for decoration.

Font: The design of lettering, which comes in many different styles or typefaces.

Formal: At a formal wedding, has dress codes that will apply such as black tie.

Fountain: This is the name of a wedding veil style which will reach either to the shoulder or elbow where part is gathered up atop the bride head and the remainder set loose to fall around her face.

Four-in-hand Tie: A standard, long, knotted necktie worn with a laydown collar. Also known as a necktie.

Fracture (diamond): A crack on a diamond´s surface.

French Cuffs: Shirt cuffs which are folded over and closed with cuff links.

French Fold: A sheet of paper folded twice to create a four-paneled invitation is considered French-folded. This fold is most common with parchment invitations.

French service: Style of service where the food is prepared in large trays and portioned to patron's plates by the wait staff.

Front slit: A slit on a front seam, usually along the leg and not in the middle, that allows for movement.

Full-Cut Diamond: A diamond with 58 or more facets.

Full Dress Jacket: Usually worn at very formal weddings, short in front and have two long tails in the back.

Full Skirt: As the name implies, this is a full skirt gathered at the waist. It is fuller than a Circular Skirt but less full than a Bouffant.
